Spoiler Alert: Wanna See the Whole First Mission in Quantum Revenge?

The first thing that stands out every time I see Quantum Revenge gameplay footage is how buttery smooth it is. It just flows seamlessly, despite a screen full of asteroids, enemies, and bullets. Hopefully this continues through to all versions, including for our sake, Apple TV.

It’s also nice to see the animations of your mech as it changes directions and you get to see it from different angles and fighting stances. These little unnecessary details are what takes a game to that next level – small touches that don’t need to be there, and that you may not even notice straight away.

The asteroids are a nice touch as well, not only adding an extra obstacle to overcome, but also another way to farm currency – no doubt to earn some sweet upgrades for your mech.

Realtech VR have nailed the anime-inspired visuals, with those crisp, cell-shaded screens wanting you to feel like every day is Saturday morning. Speaking of which, check out the mini cut-scene at 0:55.

Enter the boss – Mekkoid Model 01. MM01 is vanquished without too much trouble, but this is mission one after all, and you’d expect the difficulty will ramp up throughout. Not only does the boss have a health bar floating over it, but also a number showing its remaining health, which adds a fun RPG element as well.

And that’s about it until release.

Good times.

We are expecting Quantum Revenge to release any day now. The last word from Realtech VR was that it had been approved for the App Store and that it would be out this weekend. It’s an unconventional time to release a game, but we won’t be complaining.
