Oceanhorn 2 sure looks pretty.

When ATVG last checked in on the upcoming sequel from Cornfox & Bros., a new trailer had just been unveiled.

Yesterday, to celebrate the original Oceanhorn’s fifth birthday, the studio went live with a new website and a boatload of new screenshots.

And things are looking good.

Set a thousand years before the events of Oceanhorn, our avatar has a fancy new toy to play with – the Caster Gun – a gun that shoots spells. Players can no doubt envision all manner of environmental puzzles and combat situations this sort of weaponry will lend itself to.

And in true JRPG fashion, players will not be adventuring through the jungles of Pirta alone.

Your party will include Arcadian royalty – Trin, and a robot named Gen. Gen by the way, is kitted out like a samurai; something old meets something new.

Each reveal of Oceanhorn 2 looks shinier and shinier, but we’ll have to be patient until 2019 for its release. Until then you can check out the full 15 minutes of gameplay Cornfox & Bros. let loose last year, as well as the trailer unveiled earlier this year at GDC, embedded below.

An evil wizard, a dark army, and three knights of Arcadia – all the ingredients for a grand  JRPG adventure.

As we roll headfirst towards the pointy end of the year, I’m considering announcing an Apple TV Game of The Year for the first time this year, and if Oceanhorn 2 is as fun to play as it is to look at, we may already have a potential GOTY candidate for 2019.

We’ll see.
